My Mission
Embrace. Educate. Empower.
Everyone has the power to heal themselves and live a life of meaning and purpose. I will work to help manifest all mothers to achieve the best birth possible for mom and baby. I want each mother to feel empowered with her pregnancy and birth experience.
I am a certified Doula trained by Maternity Wise Institute. I am from a small town on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and currently live in Lexington, Kentucky. I finished my undergraduate studies in Biology at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. I completed my post-graduate studies in Doctor of Chiropractic at Life University in Marietta, Georgia. Several of my classes covered material that opened my eyes to the unique birth disparities crisis black women face in the United States. My academic studies and work experience in chiropractic, along with my passion for women's health led me to pursue a career as a doula. I am an ICPA and Webster Certified chiropractor, specializing in family wellness at Triple Crown Chiropractic & Wellness.
I believe all families deserve support before, during, and after birth. With the challenges faced by black women and their infants, still, black mothers are mistreated, disregarded, and continue to lose their lives disproportionately due to childbirth-related complications. I intend to reach and represent those mothers, ensuring they feel supported throughout their reproductive journey.
I desired to become a doula because of the evidence that supports the death rates of black women during pregnancy and in birth. Every year nearly 700 women die in the U.S. as a result of pregnancy complications. Black women are two to three times more likely to die from a pregnancy related cause than white women. Hi, I am Mackenzie, a doula. I am the oldest of three children and have always had a mothering and nurturing instinct. I grew up being a natural provider and support person for others daily in their time of need. My love for women's health and pregnancy started when I became a chiropractic assistant. Being introduced to Chiropractic care has been life changing along with being an influence to empowering women's health.
My goal is to help mothers recover from changes that has happened throughout their pregnancy in order for them to stay fit & healthy. Postpartum fitness is very important for a mothers recovery, where I will focus on core reconnection and functional movements to address any diastases, core, pelvic floor dysfunction and postural corrections.
My overall goal after completing chiropractic school is to open a birthing center where holistic beliefs are prioritize to improve a healthier lifestyle with the help of chiropractors, midwives, doulas, birth workers, etc.
I desired to become a doula because I want to improve women's health and help them maintain a healthy lifestyle after childbirth. Having a doula reduces complications and decreases labor and cesarean rates by 50%.
